Delay in Track

As this track nears completion, I have run into a few issues:

1) Either my RMI piano samples are out of tune (don't think so but time will tell) or this track's speed was manipulated in the studio. The vocals are a bit out of tune when I place them on top of the MIDI file.

2) I need to work on how to get the hi-hat articulations correct on the drum track.  The samples I am using make the hi-hat part sound too mechanical.  If you listen to how these hi-hats swell, thus creating accents, you will see what I mean.

3) Steve's guitar part, ghostly in background during the chorus, is very difficult to re-create.  It's a real fuzzy guitar, perhaps this was the fuzz effect on the Synthi Hi-Fli?

So, until I can get these few issues resolved, I have put this track on the back burner.  I will come back to this, but I have moved on and completed ANYWAY (see track listing on HOME PAGE to access).

MIDI File Work Started

I have already completed Carpet Crawlers in MIDI back in 1998.  At this point in the project, most of the work on the MIDI is complete.  Now, it's time to start assigning the correct instruments and re-working some of the MIDI tracks.  Specifically, Steve' guitar part (want to try using the MIDI GUITAR with a METAL SLIDE) and PC's drum part (with the new Gretch drum samples).

I will be putting some examples up here soon.  I can't get over how having the right instruments can make such a big difference.  The MIDI guitar track for the 12 string electric sounds really good with the RIC 12 string samples.  And the home-made RMI samples bring Mr. B's part to life.

Carpet Crawlers

This 10th track of the Lamb Laid Down on MIDI is a wonderful, airy sounding ballad.  Thick with RMI piano, 12 string RICKENBACHER and Steve Hackett Slide Guitar.  Did you know that the bass part on this track was played on the RMI piano?  Huh, if you did, FANTASTIC, if not, you learned something new today.
